goin' digital?

i feel like a technology inept mom on this one. digital cameras, what's the deal?

i kinda want one, but have yet to be fully convinced. for those of you who do, i would love for your input on some questions:
-what kind do you have? do you like it?
-do you have a memory card for it? how many mbs? should i get one?
-how do you go about getting tangible pictures?

i'm thinking about getting one of these, bearing in mind that i'm cheap, but still want something of quality. the more expensive model has optical zoom whereas the other does not. they seem fairly similiar, overall. thoughts? comments? suggestions?

help mom out yo.

basically, i feel as if i would be more prone to take pics if i had one, but would like the assurance that i can still attain quality tangible pictures. i have a good camera as is, but i dunno man, these are alluring, no?

Hola guapa,

Going digital was the best thing I could have done. If you are OCD about picture-taking and capturing memories, it would be the greatest investment. Case in point: Moi. I went digital and took literally over 700 pics in Spain. I'm working on a scrapbook, so I chose my fave 250 pics. At .19 cents each "tangible" pic, the total was $50 for printing 250 4" x 6" that 1) I specifically chose 2) I was able to adjust however I wanted (ie, crop, lighting, red eye, etc.). Plus, it was ready within an hour and the quality is superb. Now, if I happen to mess a picture up or lose it or something, all I need to do is go back to the CDR or the file where I saved all my pics on, and take it back to the store and voila! Another copy. When you take it to the store (Walgreens, WalMart, Kmart, etc.) you just need to bring the memory card, stick, a CDR (I burned mine onto a CDR, most cameras bring the software for you to do store the pics onto your computer), or in some places, you just need to bring your camera! It's very easy and convenient.

If you just want pics for friends and family type pics, I'd go for a 3.0 (or is it 3.2?) megapixels...though now a days the 4.0 and 5.0 are cheaper, maybe you'd want to invest in that? The higher the megapixel the more resolution and nicer the pics will come out if you make it bigger.

I like optical zoom, but again if it's not for anything serious I wouldn't worry too much. There's this really coold, slim Sony CyberShot at 4.0 megapixels that I really like and I'd get if I were to purchase another one, but it's a bit pricier. Of the two you were looking at, I would personally go for the optical zoom camera, but that's just me, I'm a "Parkie" and I like real crisp pics for advertising projects and all that jazz. The digital zoom is just fine too.

I should post comments on amazon.

Besos,
Jazmin

Go digital. I was totally against it, sold my old digital camera and then I realized how much it is useful to have one of those in your life. So I bought a new one.
My camera is a Samsung 4MP, no optical zoom...5X digital zoom. I paid less than 100 bucks thanks to the wonders of Black Friday...I think it costs around 160 now.
Anyway, I would go with the cheapest one because I am ... cheap? Plus, I ain't no photographer. So why do I need to be all fancy and whatnot? Also, I would only pay more if you got more MP...If it gave you 4MP resolution, I'd pay the extra 50 buckeros...
Memory cards are required if you want to take shitloads of pics at a time (which you will want to do). They can be very cheap though. Mine was 10 bucks.
Also, if you want hard copies of your pics, you just gotta burn'em onto a CD and take it to the picture place...or somewhere like target. Or you can take your memory card. Depends on what equipment they have. The prints are fairly cheap, so you can pick the good ones for memory's sake and whatnot...
Ok..I guess this is it.
PAYCE!
